Pohjolan Sanomat: Intuitional jazz from pop classics

“The Sunday afternoon of Pikisaari Jazz was opened by the Finnish trio Zekosto, gathering the slowly entering crowd to the tunes of Eleanor Rigby and Norwegian Wood. It was a glimpse of classic pop in midst of intuitional play.
According to band leader and guitarist Tuomo J Autio, mixing different styles of music is the most intriguing feature of jazz.

- I like keeping my mind open to all genres, which makes it possible to use them when need arises. The bottom line of jazz is that it is contemporary, always here and now.

Originally Autio started to develop bebop and rhythm & blues into innovative free improvisation. He incorporated elements of 1940’s style of jazz and black rhythms predating rock."
